Shipping FAQ
Gateway Classic Cars works with top rated vehicle transport companies to handle shipping requests from around the corner to around the globe. If this is your first time shipping a vehicle, here are some of the more common questions we receive.
How much does it cost to transport a classic car?
The cost for classic car transport can vary based upon the specific make and model as well as the distance from the showroom to your driveway. Gateway Classic Cars will get you a few different shipping quotes for you. Once you have decided on the best option, you will be able to work directly with the transport company for final delivery arrangements.
What is Door-to-Door Auto Transport?
Door-to-door transport is the choice for many of our customers. The delivery truck will pick up your vehicle from our showroom and it will be delivered as close to your home as legally possible. Some cities may restrict where large trucks may drive in residential areas. This is something to discuss with the transport company when scheduling your shipment. They may have other delivery trucks available which would not conflict with any municipal regulations.
What kind of vehicle will transport my classic car?
Our transport partners have two options available – Open Transport and Enclosed Transport.
Enclosed carriers are often recommended for exotic and classic cars. This may also depend
upon the time of year you are having your vehicle shipped.
An enclosed trailer will better protect your vehicle from the elements during its journey to
your driveway.
Open car carriers are the popular choice for most new car dealerships as they can typically
carry 8-10 vehicles at a time.
Is my vehicle insured during the shipping process?
YES! Gateway Classic Cars ONLY deals with fully licensed and insured shipping companies to ensure our customers are fully covered. Our Inventory Specialists will be able to assist with additional questions.
How long will it take to transport my classic car?
There are a lot of factors which will determine the schedule. Your transport company will be able to give you more details about the timeframe for delivery based upon what shipping options are best for you. Typical turn around is 5-7 business days after final payment and contracts are received.
Does my vehicle registration need to be current prior to shipping?
No. Once you have received your vehicle, you will be able to register the vehicle with your local department of motor vehicles. Except for international shipping, we do not ship the title along with the vehicle for your protection. Your title and any additional paperwork will be sent directly from Gateway Classic Cars separately. International shipping will require the title to be present for customs processing.
