Gateway Classic Cars of Charlotte is proud to digitally present this 1977 Datsun 280Z.
The engine block is stamped "L28-123326" which matches the chassis plate shown in the gallery. The window sticker shows delivery to Leo Adler Datsun and lists options, standard equipment, and a total price of $7,609.
This 1977 Datsun 280Z was sold new by Leo Adler Datsun of Farmington, Michigan, and is said to have remained with the original owner until 2014. It subsequently spent time in Texas before being acquired by the seller recently. The car is finished in Light Blue Metallic (305) over black vinyl upholstery, and power comes from a fuel-injected 2.8-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Features include a retractable antenna, air conditioning, a 240Z woodgrain steering wheel, a wooden shift knob, and a Hitachi AM/FM radio. This 280Z is now offered with factory books and tools, a window sticker, original purchase paperwork, spare parts, and the removed steering wheel and shift knob.
The car is finished in Light Blue Metallic (305) and features chrome bumpers with rubber end caps, a contrasting gray tail panel, a retractable antenna, and a black driver-side mirror. A collection of paint meter readings can be seen in the gallery below.
The 14 steel wheels wear silver Z-branded covers and are mounted with Yokohama Touring S tires that are said to have been installed in 2014. A matching steel wheel with a space-saver tire is stowed under the rear cargo floor. The car features independent suspension as well as rack-and-pinion steering. Stopping power is provided by power-assisted front disc brakes and rear drums.
The cockpit features bucket seats trimmed in black vinyl with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Amenities include air conditioning, a Hitachi AM/FM radio, a wooden shift knob, and a map light. A factory vinyl-trimmed shift knob with a green reflective shift-pattern cap is included in the sale and can be seen in the gallery.
The woodgrain-trimmed steering wheel was sourced from a 240Z, and it frames a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,400-rpm redline, while auxiliary gauges and a clock are housed above the center stack. A factory steering wheel, center cap, and shift knob are included in the sale.
The 2.8-liter L28 inline-six features electronic fuel injection and a single overhead camshaft. Power was factory rated at 170 horsepower and 163 lb-ft of torque. Replacement fuel injectors were reportedly installed in 2014, and an oil change was last performed in 2019.
